As a repair shop focusing on transmission problems this business adds an additional service unexpected but most welcome. That of unselfishness and honesty. My vehicle, older but still reliable on my retirement budget, was assessed to not be worth the extremely expensive repair it required. I was literally told this shop would not perform the work and was given the reasons why. I was not charged for this and what's more was allowed to park the vehicle on premises for three days to allow me to arrange for its removal. Moreover, John's wife, his described Boss, was kind to offer and work with my insurance company to secure reimbursement for the original towing charge. Amazing!

John was very helpful to me when I stopped in with my 2016 Ford Focus with a transmission problem. He diagnosed the problem at no charge. He became very concerned after learning the low mileage and time elapsed between purchase of vehicle and transmission problem. He thought that I was being taken advantage of from dealer, so he called and reached out to manager at dealer. John is very knowledgeable and caring person. He wasn't trying to take advantage of the situation but worked on my behalf, trying his best to get dealer to take care of problem for me at no cost to me. I would highly recommend him.

After going to different repair shops Mr. Transmission fixed my problem. John new his stuff with all the B.S. other shops told me I walked out of there with both arms and legs very honest man great humor. Walt Dunsworth will return whenever i need service again great job'

Mr. Transmission is were I will bring any car I own, if it needs repairs. I am very pleased with the service they provide.

I will definitely be back if needed! My Acadia transmission kept going into safe mode. John is straight to the point, tells you exactly what he would do if it were his vehicle. I called on a Monday, dropped off on Tuesday, picking up on Thursday. Wow! We had planned at minimum 5 days! Any other places I had called, before Mr Transmission, were 3 to 4 weeks out. It has now been 4 weeks, No more issues! Thanks John and the team at Mr Transmission!

ABOVE AND BEYOND I took my car in with transmission problem that was not east to fix John and his guys were so great with the whole process They are extremely knowledgeable and professional & VERY FAIR I would highly recommend this shop and am very grateful to have found them This place is a gem!!!!!!

My differential cover rusted out and lost all fluid. I thiught it was the transmission making noise, John took it ror a test drive and in less than a block he stopped and said it wasn't the trans. He returned to the shop and said he would let me know how bad it eas when he opened it up. The next day he called and discussed options. He took the time to see what i used the truck for and gave me the parts that were right for my usage. Two days later it was done!!!! And through it all, he was very clear about my options. I highly recommend this shop to everyone who has transmission or differential problems!!!!!

Excellent communication and workmanship

To all the self-proclaimed DIY Non Professional Auto Mechanics. When your project fails, and YOU seek a professional to fix your mistake, be prepared for criticism. The entire field of automotive repair services are swamped daily by failed DIY repairs. And in most cases to fix these mistakes cost MORE than what it would have cost had you just taken it to the Pro’s. In My case, I have been doing DIY’s for 40yrs. With great success. But when I ran into a transmission problem (which I have no knowledge about at all) I decided to go to Mr. Transmission in Bourbonnais Illinois. My recent purchase of a used 2003 Trail Blazer, began to profusely spray transmission fluid all over my under carriage covering other components / lines and wires. I had no clue. John and his crew took a look and decided that the transmission cooling lines were in very bad shape and needed replaced. John gave me a fair and reasonable estimate on the complete repair. During the removal and replacement of Parts, they began to have problems due to not only the fact that someone did a quick splice of a rotten Piece of tubing instead of replacing the entire piece, they also noted that due to the manufacturer’s placement of insulation around the tubes to ward off moister causing rust , actually created moisture and premature rust. This caused excessive time (labor) to remove connectors from the transmission . This job took far much longer than it should have. It took hours of valuable time to repair. All in all the final results were this. I was charged for Parts and taxes , BUT only charged for the labor for the amount that it should have only taken, and not the many hours it did take !!! I gratefully applaud John and his Crew for a Job done right. And I highly recommend using Mr. Transmission in Bourbonnais, Illinois. From one war veteran (me) to another (John)….
